Running

I've been trying out on interval trainings and it is bloody tiring. I think I'm a consistent runner rather than a run-fast-stop-walk-then-run-fast-again kind of runner. Watched some utube videos on running tips and I thought it's quite interesting and here are some of the key points to take note when you're running a marathon.

1) Getting the correct footwear. I think my feet belongs to the neutral foot type hence I'll need a cushioning shoe. I’m intending to get a new pair of shoes soon as my current one is quite cui also. I’ve glued the soles together several times; I know I’m being very stingy over buying a pair of shoes. However, I’m so attached to my current pair and it is so seasoned already.

2) Do strengthening exercises to strengthen my muscles. Take note of my hip and abdominal muscles as they support your spine. I will try to do some stretching before and after my runs.

3) Eating right. It’s time to take in more carbohydrates and cut down on my proteins! Carbos provides the energy that is essential especially when it comes to endurance running. The coach mentioned that eating veggies is good rather than meat. The deer (which is a vegetarian) runs further and long, while a cheetah (meat eater) runs fast and leaps quickly. Hence, I promise to convert myself to a deer like eater. Hehe!

4) Pacing and interval trainings. It is important to pace your run so that you won’t hit in wall aka die out. Divide up the total distance that you have to run into 3 sections. The first 10km will be a slow paced one for you to conserve your energy, next 10km will be a more intense one and last few kilometers will progressively get quicker and quicker. However, I think I’d rather have the middle part be intense and slowly die out in the last few kilometers. Break up distance in intervals, run 1km quickly, rest for 2.5min, continue running for the next 1km and so on and so forth.

5) Trainings. Run small distances in the weekdays and do strengthening exercises as well. Run a considerable longer distance during the weekends. Recover in between. I hope I’ll be able to stick to this regime. Haiz..haiz.

Hope you guys had fun reading and hope that I’ll take in all these advices.
