Happy New Year 2015

It's the time of the year whereby I do a review against my previous year's resolution. I know that I'm tad a little late on this entry but it's due to high altitude issues therefore the delay. It's not a good justification of course but I felt that it was more justified to enjoy the nature over there instead of blogging away on my techy device. Mother nature always overthrows technology, isn't it?  Let's first look through my list for 2014...

1. Run at least a half marathon Leiden half marathon
2. Climb a mountain   Kilimanjaro!
3. Improve a skill. Any form of skill is possible. Tennis, baking, cooking… Baking & cooking greatly improved
4. Be regimental in my skincare Sort of. My skin is bad from the sun now though...
5. Maintain constant communication with my friends hmm..not so consistent on that

6. Newly added! Eat healthy and hopefully reduce some weight. Drink less beer, indulge in healthy snacking habits, consume more fruits. Comparing myself to others (dutch in this case), I am seriously eating too unhealthily. I see myself experiencing an increase in weight as well and this is unacceptable! Complete fail! =(

On the memorable day on the eve of new year 2014, I'm snuggling in my warm and comfy tent. Above me is the universe glittered with bright and sparkling stars, behind me is the majestic peak of Kilimanjaro, surrounding me is the temperate moorland of the forest, what more can I ask for. I felt like a baby being cradled to bed in mother nature's arms. I'm so in love with the nature. It's then I decided that I have to conquer another mountain in the next year! The serenity of being out in the wild is so peacefully calming. Some random crazy thoughts went through my mind. Climb a mountain, diving in another ocean, do volunteering for a month or so, study for a year. There's so much that I want to do.. Filtering through all the available options, here's what I think it should be realistically achievable in the upcoming 2015.
1. Climb a mountain, doesn't have to be a high altitude one (3000m and above). I just enjoy the journey. It's not about the elevation, it's just a figure.
2. Visit a country in south america. I have successfully managed to visit countries in Africa, the next continent awaiting me is Latin america! Brazil and Peru are the countries I have in mind. In addition, i'd like to do a short holiday in Asia Pacific region.
3. Run at least a half marathon. With my hectic work schedule for the first half of the year, training for a full marathon seems unfeasible, this explains the half distance. Keeping myself in shape and exercising regularly. Eat healthily and reduce snacking.
4. Do a camping trip. After lots of camping in Tanzania, I rekindled my love for camping!
5. Spend more time with my family whenever possible. Spend more time with friends and do meet ups as much as possible.
6. Master a new language. This must be the toughest resolution that I am challenging myself. Now that I have sort of slowed down on my dutch lessons, I guess I may have the time to learn a new language. As I'm spending much more time traveling, I realized the handiness of equipping myself with more languages. Therefore, I'll try to learn as much whenever possible.
